To understand how the Mothers of the Black population came “under the jurisdiction of” The United States we must start at the beginning. The Baby Follows The Belly Law of 1662 made it lawful to enslave children from birth for the sake of slave labor. 200 years later these American soil born children of slavery would be granted Birthright Citizenship.
